Job Description

Job Summary
 
The Sustainment and service Planner  leads program-wide supply chain optimization, continuous improvement, implementation of best practices, and change management.  Oversees supply chain performance and improvement initiatives; develops, maintains and executes strategic plans to optimize procurement, movement, warehousing, inventory control, and consumption of materials using complex planning and reporting tools.
 
Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)
  • Oversees program-wide Supply Chain Management activities and best industry practices, with an emphasis on planning/scheduling and tracking the progress of supply activities
  • Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving operations and solving maintenance-related problems
  • Develops and executes long-term strategic plans for supply chain operations enabling initiatives that meet the future needs of the organization
  • Establishes standards for lead time and demand to ensure that the program procurement activities are aligned with warehousing and consumption
  • Performs monthly supply chain performance analysis and provides root cause corrective actions
  • Leads cross functional teams to develop and maintain a robust suite of reporting and planning tools
  • Monitors external environment and internal trends, practices and utilization to remain current with sourcing and logistics procedures and systems
  • Provides strong, visible, and effective input for optimizing supply chain functions
  • Ensures that all subordinate personnel are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the Supply Chain Management program can be executed in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills
  • Advanced knowledge of modern principles of efficient materials management, movement and inventory control
  • Advanced knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to develop and execute effective strategies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Demonstrated commitment to sound financial management, efficiency, and the principled pursuit of established objectives
  • Additional knowledge/skills may be required by assignment or contract and will be listed separately

Experience & Education
  • Minimum ten (10) years experience in materials management or related field, with three (3) years leadership/supervisory experience
  • Experience in  supply chain optimization, implementation of best industry practices, and change management
  • Prior import/export experience
  • Experience in a high volume, global supply chain management environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree in BusinessSupply Chain Management or associated discipline preferred
  • Prior military logistics experience preferred
  • Professional Certification in Supply Chain field preferred
  • Experience in the support of contingency operations is preferred
  • Additional experience/education may be required by assignment or contract and will be listed separately

Physical Requirements/Working Environment
  • Generally works in normal office environment, but may be required to travel domestically and internationally on short notice, to austere environments, under harsh living conditions
