Job Description

Job Summary
 
The Senior Logistics Planner has overarching responsibility for strategic planning and serves as the primary interface and on-site liaison between the program and customer, overseeing effective communications and information exchange.
 
Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract)
  • Provide subject matter expertise and knowledge on disaster and contingency planning and program capabilities.  Collaborate with program leadership and military in developing strategic plans to support identified needs of the customer. 
  • Serve as primary interface to the customer and program leadership for communicating capability and readiness to support the customer.
  • Perform complex analysis and make recommendations to customer, providing decision authorities’ credible and sound data to make effective decisions. 
  • Oversee integration of plans, exercises, and operations by leveraging expertise in multifunctional logistics support.  Integrate program support and capabilities as needed to meet sustainment requirements.
  • Research and respond to inquiries, oversee regional and worldwide plan development, providing capabilities and planning support to the customer and DI.
  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis of emerging policy, regulations, directives, or industrial issues.
  • Prepare briefings and special studies, assist with updating and maintaining operations and plans, monitor and track changing requirements, and review and perform gap analysis for plan development.
  • Prepare reports, provide cost estimates, schedules, or other information to support the customer requirements.
  • Conduct training courses for Government personnel.

Knowledge & Skills
  • Knowledgeable of military operations and understanding of operations for assigned contract.
  • Attention to details and able to handle multiple tasks independently.
  • Effective and diplomatic communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
  • Outstanding written, communication, and briefing skills with the capability to interact and communicate with, senior and executive level military personnel.
  • Attention to details and able to handle multiple tasks independently.
  • Familiar with the development and documentation of training and exercise scenarios, as well as how command post exercises are conducted.

Experience & Education
  • Fifteen (15) years of operational experience with at least seven (7) years in a leadership role over large organizations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in operations management, business, engineering, or associated discipline preferred.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment
  • Physically fit to stand and bend for long periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Use of appropriate Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) may be mandatory.
  • Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
  • Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions may be required.
