Job Description

Job Summary
The Quality Control (QC) Lead - Food Service conducts internal quality audits, develops recommendations and trains food service staff regarding the sanitary handling, preparation, service, and storage of food and food preparation equipment. Ensures that food is prepared and served in accordance with contract requirements, government regulations and food industry best practices.
Principal Accountabilities
  • Assists in the overall implementation of standardized food safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements (Federal, State/Provincial, and Local).
  • Ensures that food service staff are trained on proper cooking methods, times and temperatures for various types of food products.
  • Develops policies and procedures for food product shelf lives.
  • Ensures that operational and pre-operational sanitation is acceptable, as well as implementing and developing necessary verification activities to evaluate the effectiveness of sanitation efforts.
  • Monitors allergen labels and assures that allergens are labeled and segregated according to industry standards.
  • Ensures that the facility’s food safety program is up-to-date.
  • Provides and documents training as needed, including food safety and chemical safety and awareness.
  • Ensures that all food handlers maintain safe personal hygiene standards.
  • Conduct field audits of contractual services for conformance to Performance Work Statement.
  • Responsible for all aspects of food QC activities at assigned location.
  • Act as quality point of contact for customer inspectors, site management, and field operations managers.
  • Assist in implementation and maintenance of inspection system components and methods.
  • Provide response to customer concerns and findings; track corrective actions taken in response to internal and customer audit findings.
  • Provide support for quality training preparation and presentation.
  • Provide support for quality analysis and data presentations made to management and customers.
  • Assist site managers, supervisors, and functional leads with internal and customer corrective action reporting.
  • Manage non-conformities identified during QA/QC inspections.
  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills
  • Knowledge of how to recognize, prevent and alleviate food safety hazards.
  • Knowledge of all relevant food safety legislation and regulations.
  • Ability to understand relationship between QA/QC activities and contract performance.
  • Ability to work with personnel at all levels to effectively and efficiently implement the Program QC Plan.
  • Additional knowledge/skills may be required by assignment or contract.

Experience & Education
  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational health and safety or related field preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of food service lead or supervisory experience including responsibility for food safety and quality.
  • Advanced knowledge of ServSafe, FDA & USDA regulations.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
  • Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
  • Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.
