Job Summary
The Quality Control (QC) Master Electrician leads the Quality Electrical Support Team Program at assigned locations to ensure electrical services are effectively evaluated for conformance to contractual requirements and verifies installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems comply with the applicable BS7671 and/or NEC standards.
Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)
  • Implement and manage the Quality Electrical Support Team Program at assigned sites
  • Develop QA/QC personnel and operational electrical staff by providing training in the governing electrical standards and customer requirements
  • Support QA/QC and operational management personnel with technical subject matter expertise for responses to customer Corrective Action Requests (CAR)
  • Lead development of the electrical services mission to focus on total customer satisfaction by engaging the customer and client at all levels to build relationships
  • Inspect existing electrical installations and equipment for compliance with the governing electrical standards and identify Life, Health, and Safety (LHS) conditions
  • Monitor and evaluate workmanship and performance of O&M electrical departments by inspecting maintenance projects assigned to and completed by them
  • Conduct audits and surveillance of maintenance programs to verify compliance with the Contract, Performance Work Statement, Company Policies and the Quality Control Plan
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills
  • Expert knowledge of the British Standards Institution (BSI) BS7671 Requirements for Electrical Instillations, IEE Wiring Regulations, 17th Edition and/or National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) NFPA 70, National Electrical Code (NEC) 2008/2011
  • Expert skill and ability to verify compliance with BS7671 and/or NEC 2008/2011 electrical standards
  • Ability to constructively evaluate and critique work performed by skilled electrical trades personnel
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to maintain a positive, professional attitude while interacting with piers, management, customers, clients and operational personnel
  • Expert ability to identify defects in electrical systems and determine methods to correct electrical deficiencies for compliance with the governing electrical standards
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints, schematics, manuals, instructions and other technical documentation
  • Ability to understand and effectively follow oral and written instructions in the English language
  • Knowledge and skill in the safe operation and application of instrumentation to include circuit testers, power analyzers, ground rod resistance meters and ground fault loop impedance testers
  • Proficient skill and ability to read, write and interpret detailed technical reports
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Adobe programs to include: MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat
  • Fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language
  • Additional knowledge/skills may be required by assignment or contract and will be listed separately

Experience & Education
  • Minimum four (4) years of related experience as a Licensed Master Electrician or JIB ECS Master Electrician Grade
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess current Master Electrician or JIB ECS Master Electrician Grade country/state/county/city or municipality license or equivalent
  • Quality control and/or construction/building inspection experience preferred
  • Additional experience/education may be required by assignment or contract and will be listed separately

Physical Requirements/Working Environment
  • CONUS:
    • Generally works in normal office environment, but may be required to travel domestically and internationally on short notice, to austere environments, under harsh living conditions

    • Some positions will be assigned to overseas locations where living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable, with long hours, exposure to weather, dust, and hazardous/harsh conditions
