Job Description

Job Summary
 
The Project Ammunition Manager oversees a workforce of personnel supporting a military Ammunition Supply Point (ASP) operation.  Responsible for all ASP operations including CDRLs and other reports.  Ensures the overall safe handling of a variety of ammunition, explosives and rockets.
 
Principal Accountabilities
  • Serves as the primary POC for the customer. 
  • Provides management and control for the overall daily and long-term production goals and customer service requirements of the ASP.
  • Directs and coordinates the implementation of the following activities: Accountability, receipt, storage, issue, inspection, maintenance and demilitarization of conventional ammunition, components, residue and inert training ammunition devices.
  • Responsible for the receipt, storage and issue of basic load ammunition items with assigned customer units.
  • Provide a safe working environment for all personnel. 
  • Advise the Site Manager of potential negative trends or other factors that may affect the department’s capability to meet contractual responsibilities and recommends solutions.
  • Responsible for customer support and customer satisfaction with supported units.
  • Ensure employees are trained and proficient in their assigned duties.
  • Manage activities of workers engaged in all facets of ASP operations.
  • Monitor and control implementation of the DI QMS as it pertains to ammunition, safety, training, environmental plans and internal/external QC audits.
  • Review contractual recurring reports to ensure they are complete and accurate prior to submission.
  • Interprets and enforces safety regulations.
  • Forecast workload and manpower to ensure quality service is provided to the customer.
  • Provide proper ammunition and explosives storage and safety IAW applicable regulations, field manuals or pamphlets.
  • Set priorities and develops forecasts for ASP workload.
  • Directs inspection and surveillance of processed or stored munitions.
  • Coaching, supervising and staffing of ASP supervisory personnel.
  • Ability to brief senior military and project personnel on all facets of ASP operations.
  • Ability to meet stringent timelines.
  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills
  • Possess the background necessary to be granted access to government computers.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Proficient at verbal and written communication. 
  • Current active U.S. SECRET security clearance.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Advanced knowledge of military ASP operations.
  • Knowledge of ammunition and hazardous material handling to ensure the safe receipt, storage, issue and movement of ammunition, explosives, chemicals, or radioactive materials in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements. 
  • Strong understanding of U.S. Army and DOD ammunition regulations.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Standard Ammunition and Accounting System-Modernized (SAAS-MOD) computer system.

Experience & Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or fifteen (15) years of related experience preferred.
  • Ten (10) or more years’ experience in military ammunition supply and/or other related installation or equivalent level ASP support service operations.
  • Seven (7) or more years’ experience in supervising ammunition supply point operations and customer service at the team or section level.
  • Prior Military and/or Contingency Operations experience preferred.
  • Previous direct experience managing a military ASP preferred.
  • Completion of Warrant Officer or Senior NCO technical training in ammunition operations (MOS 890A or 89B) or similar military specialty code in other services.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment
  • Place of duty and environmental conditions can be extremely austere, harsh, and work can be performed under hostile and life-threatening conditions.
  • Working environment will be both office and outdoor settings which individual can be exposed to extreme weather conditions for extended period of time.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. 
  • Ability to work 12 hour shifts; 7 days a week.

Travel
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
