Job Summary
 
The Plumber Supervisor responsible for the operation of the Plumbing Shop in support of O&M and Construction.  Supervises the Plumbing Foremen and Crews (O&M and or Construction).  Responsible for the Safety Training and Compliance for the Plumbing Shop/Department.
 
Principal Accountabilities
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in assembly, installation and repair of pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, water supply and waste disposal systems
  • Assign work to Plumbing Foremen and crews
  • Reviews all service orders and ensures they are completed on time, staffed properly and the quality of work meets approved standards
  • Inspects and passes on all completed work for compliance with the requirements to the work order for adherence to trades standards
  • Ensures all permits are obtained for projects requiring dig permits, confined space entry, etc
  • May at times be obligated to perform actual maintenance and repair work
  • Coordinates support to all O&M Crafts
  • Maintains database of all Plumbing activities and keeps records of materials and supplies received, used and held in stock
  • Estimates amount of work hours, materials and supplies needed
  • Inventories materials on hand and tools in use
  • Protects property form abuse and/or misuse
  • Schedules and implements individualized on the job training programs for subordinates
  • Provides Safety Training to Plumbing Crews and ensure the DCP Plumbing SOP is strictly adhered to
  • Keeps abreast of development in the trade through the reading of periodicals and manufacturers’’ publications
  • Secures the cooperation of other trades supervisors and to instill within the assigned employees the cooperative attitude necessary for working closely with other maintenance trades workers
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills
  • Fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills to clearly and courteously communicate with customers and plumbing crews 
  • Must be currently licensed as a journey plumber
  • Must possess working knowledge of the plumbing trade including the installation, repair and maintenance of hot and cold water lines, sewer pipe, soil pipe, traps and appliances such as water closets, lavatories, urinals, showers and tubs
  • Must be able to follow blueprints, diagrams and engineering specifications
  • Working understanding of ablution units, septic systems, loop systems, etc.
  • Must hold a State Plumbing License
  • Additional knowledge and skill requirements may vary by assignment

Experience & Education
  • Minimum seven (7) years of experience as a Licensed Journeyman Plumber with at least one (1) year in a supervisor role
  • Hands-on experience performing installation and repair on potable water lines, sewage lines, fixtures, plumbing appliances, water closet, sinks, showers, traps, water heaters, pumps, and all associated systems and components
  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate Degree is preferred.
  • Additional experience and education requirements may vary by assignment

Physical Requirements/Working Environment
  • Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
  • Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
  • Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
