Job Description

Job Summary
 

The Ordnance Technician receives, stores, inspects, handles, transports, accounts for, and maintains U.S. Navy (USN) Ordnance/Weapons, Armament/Weapons Support Equipment (AWSE), Material Handling Equipment (MHE), and supporting resources to support intransient Patrol Squadron aircraft. As an integral part of the Munitions Department, also performs all assigned actions in support of USAF Munitions. Supervises Asian/LN Munitions Workforce.  Carries out all duties in accordance with DynCorp ISO 9000 Quality and Safety Standards.
 

Principal Accountabilities
  • Consistently observes and enforces all USN, USAF and host nation explosives safety, AFOSH, and security standards during all explosives and non-explosives operations.
  • In the event of an emergency, takes necessary control and timely response actions.
  • Conducts all ordnance work according to established quality processes, identifying potential problems and recommending solutions.
  • Supervises Asian/Local National Munitions Workforce, providing clear instructions about the work.
  • Reconditions, repairs, and replaces defective or missing parts of ordnance and containers.
  • Performs ordnance storage actions according to stringent explosives standards.
  • Achieves and maintains all ordnance qualification and certification training requirements.
  • Works closely with the Munitions Superintendent to resolve any serviceability and accountability issues noted during ordnance operations.
  • Tows weapons and ready service ordnance to and from flight-line.
  • Prepares and configures alert ordnance loads in accordance with applicable directives.
  • Uploads/downloads carrier with incoming and outgoing munitions shipments.
  • Performs all applicable weapons load inspections in accordance with applicable technical orders.
  • Maintains the USN technical data and publications library according to standards.
  • Uses designated USN accountability ordnance system to account for all ordnance.
  • Inspects, operates and performs maintenance on light vehicles and handling equipment such as, forklifts, pallet jacks, and manual hoists. 
  • Inspects and operates metal strapping equipment, stencil machines, heat sealers, pneumatic paint guns, air compressors and power tools. 
  • Inspects and performs minor maintenance on facilities and installed equipment. Cleans vehicles, equipment and facilities.
  • Prepares and delivers general and explosives safety briefings. 
  • Performs other duties assigned by the Munitions Superintendent or senior supervisor.
  • Works necessary hours, to include stand-by duties, to support mission requirements during peacetime and combat contingencies.

Knowledge & Skills
  • Knowledge of maintenance, storage and towing of assigned ordnance materials.
  • Knowledgeable of the USN technical and publications systems. 
  • Computer literate. 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US passport.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • A valid local driver's license. 

Experience & Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of formalized USN Ordnance Training, with minimum 4 years of experience with Harpoon, AGM-65, torpedoes, and countermeasure ordnance; combined experience on USN storage, towing, maintenance and inspection procedures for Ordnance, AWSE and MHE.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment
  • Normal color perception and depth of vision. 
  • Physically capable of performing all required duties; capable of lifting 50lbs and perform extensive work using/driving handling/lifting equipment. 

Travel
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
