Job Description

Job Summary
The Machinist will operate a variety of machines to perform assigned tasks. You will produce or repair precision parts using both manual and automated equipment and accurate measurements.
Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)
  • Review samples, drawings or instructions to understand specifications of product.
  • Take measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping.
  • Repair broken or cracked parts, fill holes, and increase size of metal parts
  • Select appropriate machines (e.g. lathes) and position or load material for a job.
  • Monitor machine while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperature and identify issues.
  • Check output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages.
  • Perform related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding.
  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills
  • Knowledge of production planning, scheduling, and layout
  • Knowledge and skill in manual manipulated machining  equipment and CNC machines
  • Knowledge of aluminum and stainless steel and carbon steel and appropriate process for machining products.
  • Proficient in identifying threads of standard and metric.
  • Proficient in measuring with dials and calipers.  
  • Additional knowledge/skills requirements may vary by assignment

Experience & Education
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in manual and CNC machining to include formal educational training, On-Job training and/or full time employment. 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Prefer welding experience (welding, cutting, grinding) 
  • Additional experience/education requirements may vary by assignment

Physical Requirements/Working Environment
  • Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
  • Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
  • Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
