Job Summary
 
The Accounting Clerk provides general financial, clerical and accounting services to assigned department within the company. Assigned tasks generally performed under supervisory review.
 
Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)
  • Provides routine accounting, finance and clerical support, such as posting routine accounts payable vouchers, verifying the accuracy of invoices, or typing data from timesheets into Payroll system.
  • Establishes and maintains department files in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Follows established guidelines in performing routine day-to-day tasks.
  • Screens telephone calls, visitors and incoming correspondences for assigned department.
  • Copies and distributes various reports and documentation.  
  • Performs proofreading and light typing.
  • Operates office machines such as adding and copying machines.
  • Researches employee’s complaints and/or discrepancies that the department was involved with.
  • Collects and distributes department’s mail.
  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills
  • Good mathematical and computation skills.
  • Type a minimum of 35-40 words per minute (wpm).
  • Operate 10-Key by touch.
  • Understand general computer skills for accounting environment.
  • Basic knowledge of filing systems.
  • Ability to operate fax and copy machine.
  • Additional skills may be required by contract and will be listed separately.

Experience & Education
  • High School diploma or equivalent. Formal training and six (6) hours credit in accounting principles preferred
  • Zero (0) to two (2) years’ experience in an accounting or finance environment.
  • Additional experience/education may be required by contract and will be listed separately.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment
  • Typically works in normal office environment with controlled temperature and lighting conditions.
  • Living and working conditions at some assignment locations could be remote and uncomfortable.

Travel
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
