Job Summary
The Plumber Foreman oversees plumbing crews and related maintenance, repair, and construction tasks for base facilities maintenance program.
Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)
  • Oversee plumbing crews to install and repair all plumbing systems, components, and equipment including, but not limited to showers, sinks, toilets, urinals, fire suppression systems, fuel systems, and related fixtures
  • Review and assign daily maintenance needed and work orders
  • Inspect the work of plumbers and helpers/apprentices to ensure high quality results and compliance with standard procedures and plumbing codes
  • Assist supervisor in scheduling preventive maintenance and complete the required documentation
  • Oversee installation, service, and repair of electric water heaters/boilers, pressurized loop systems, sewage lines, drainage systems, septic tanks, leach fields, and piping for potable and non-potable water production
  • Perform daily safety training as needed
  • Ensure a clean and safe work site is maintained
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills

  • Fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills to clearly and courteously communicate with customers and plumbing crews 
  • Skill in proper and safe use of power tools, hand tools, torches, and threading machines
  • Ability to follow plumbing blueprints, diagrams, and service and maintenance manuals
  • Working knowledge of international plumbing codes and plumbing fuel lines

Job Requirements

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience as a Licensed Journeyman Plumber. Foreign nationals may substitute seven (7) years of related experience and a plumbing trade certification from a technical school if there are no licenses that can be issued in their home of record
  • Hands-on experience performing installation and repair on potable water lines, sewage lines, fixtures, plumbing appliances, water closet, sinks, showers, traps, water heaters, pumps, and all associated systems and components
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
  • Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
  • Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
