Job Summary
The Army Aviation Logistics Specialist will contribute to the development and implementation of the supply chain management policies and procedures through identifying areas for improvement and ensuring that materials and spare parts are sourced, stored, and coded properly according to the international best practices and interests of the company.
Principal Accountabilities
  • Follow all relevant operational procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
  • Develop procedures and practices for the preservation and maintenance of all materials in the warehouse. Ensure materials requiring special handling are dealt with in accordance with these procedures.
  • Oversee the operational activities relating to the receipt, identification, inspection, storage, preservation and issue of a wide variety of goods and materials, components and spare parts required for operations. Report shortages/overages and damages to Manager for action.
  • Maintain close control over the warehouse data systems covering materials, equipment and spare parts transactions with internal client user departments, ensuring that all items entering and leaving stores are correctly labelled with identifying information and that accurate records are kept relating to materials movement.
  • Develop, recommend and implement a unified system for the recording, warehousing and issuing of materials and supplies in order to achieve cost-effective inventory levels, efficient storage space utilization and proper protection for stored materials.
  • Plan and execute physical inventory verification in order to maintain the highest levels of inventory accuracy. Ascertain and report material discrepancies for management decision making.
  • Conduct research on the internet and through studying Operations and Maintenance manuals for technical description of spare parts (not in the catalogue or new materials) in order to obtain accurate and reliable technical description and information for procuring spare parts.
  • Classify materials using International codes and standards with a view to standardization of all materials in the Company’s stock ledger and the Company Master data.
  • Controls removal and collection of scrap and ensures proper segregation, handling and transportation of same.
  • Maintain updated local and international codes and standards for materials and spare parts in order to provide a useful reference for buyers to procure materials and spare parts.
  • Liaise with end users and the materials planners and inspect materials, equipment and spare parts at site in order to ascertain the correct usage of items and an accurate description for the purposes of ordering.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with vendors, suppliers, sub-contractors and internal customers for the incorporation of good materials warehousing practice.
  • Review and approve periodic reports on warehouse activities and performance for management information and support decision making.
  • Follow all relevant safety, quality and environmental control procedures and instructions so that personal safety/the safety of others is not jeopardized and a minimum level of product/service quality and environmental impact can be guaranteed.
  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Business or Supply Chain discipline.
  • Four (4) or more years of experience working in supply chain and logistics for a similar organization.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
  • Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
  • Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.
