Job Description

Job Summary
The Logistics Planner develops and coordinates complex logistics operations and contingency plans for assigned area of responsibility. Responsibilities include future operational, transition, ramp up, and descope planning, as well as Project Planning Requests (PPR) for new construction projects, repair projects, and operation and facilities maintenance projects.
Principal Accountabilities
  • Coordinates, tracks, and controls all activities associated with the development of Project Planning Estimates (PPE) and other project planning duties as assigned
  • Develop concept of operations report including coordination with HSE/Risk/QA-QC and FAMs/SMEs, coordinate with USG on requirements, coordinate with estimators/scheduler and review entire packages
  • Review PPR packages
  • Coordinates with SMEs and assist in providing direction and preparing RFIs to USG and respond to USG RFIs
  • Develop and write project planning estimate assumptions
  • Develop presentations for senior management for future plans, transitions, critical project reviews, Executive VTC with LOGCAP, and project planning status for PPRs and PPEs
  • Analyze all aspects of the program’s logistics to determine most cost-effective and efficient means of downsizing workforce concurrent with military downsizing and withdrawal
  • Liaise with customer and other parties to ensure proper planning
  • Ensures a high degree of customer satisfaction by quality, on-time performance, communication, and responsiveness
  • In cooperation with DI Contracts, acts as a technical point-of-contact for all project planning processes and deliverables
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills
  • Knowledge of the functions and operations of major U.S. Military Commands
  • Planning expert with effective interpersonal and analytical skills supporting military operations
  • Proficient in deliberative planning, either military or civilian, for project planning requests
  • Knowledge of Project Planning and Project Management
  • Complete understanding of operations under assigned contract
  • Attention to detail and able to handle multiple tasks independently
  • Effective communication ability in writing and speaking, especially for briefings and operational plans
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications including Word, Project, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint

Experience & Education
  • Minimum four (4) years operational experience in planning and coordinating sustainment (materials and supplies) in support of logistics operations, preferably in military or defense contractor operations
  • Bachelor degree in logistics, project management, operations, or associate discipline; may substitute two (2) years’ experience in related field for each year of college

Physical Requirements/Working Environment
  • Living and working conditions at assignment location are remote and uncomfortable
  • Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
  • Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
