Job Description

Job Summary
The IT/Communications Manager Sr provides vision and leadership for developing and implementing information technology initiatives. Directs the planning and implementation of enterprise IT systems in support of field operations in order to improve cost effectiveness, service quality, and business development.
Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)
  • Provide leadership to the IT staff made up of employees and subcontractor personnel dispersed at remote locations throughout the area of operation.
  • Lead IT strategic and operational planning to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems across the organization.
  • Provide recommendations to senior management for new technology implementations, status reports regarding IT and communications operational readiness and efficiencies.
  • Oversee the implementation, sustainment and drawdown of all IT resources, systems and assets in area of responsibility from project-start to project-end, ensuring complete alignment with all requirements.
  • Develop, track, and control the information technology annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Establish IT departmental goals, objectives, and operating procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
  • Substantial exposure to data processing, hardware platforms, enterprise software applications, and outsourced systems, including email, data, off site retention.
  • Good understanding of computer systems and VSAT characteristics, features, and integration capabilities.
  • Excellent understanding of IT process and governance, such as ITIL/ITSM
  • Advanced knowledge of system design and development from business requirement analysis to day-to-day management

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field is highly desirable. 
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the IT industry with at least three (3) years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution.
  • Proven experience in IT planning, organization, and development.
  • Additional experience/education may be required by assignment or contract and will be listed separately

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • CONUS\:
    • Generally works in normal office environment, but may be required to travel domestically and internationally on short notice, to austere environments, under harsh living conditions
  • OCONUS\:
    • Some positions will be assigned to overseas locations where living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable, with long hours, exposure to weather, dust, and hazardous/harsh conditions
