Job Summary
The Advisory Calibration Technician, Electronics will provide training and advice for repair, calibration, and modification of the wide variety of complex precision measurement equipment utilized by the Government of Kuwait (GOK) activities. Candidate will provide technical and procedural advice and guidance to Kuwait Air Force (KAF) personnel and other GOK personnel concerning metrology related matters such as the repair, calibration or modification of precision measurement equipment, the conduct of laboratory operations and the resolution of customer measurement problems. Provides in-depth technical expertise in one or more of the following disciplinary categories and can provide On-The-Job Training (OJT) or formal classroom training as required. He or she will perform precision measurements, calibrations, modifications, maintenance and repair actions, and other functions as necessary in all areas of laboratory operations. Candidate will assist in obtaining and maintaining, laboratory Quality Assurance (QA) accreditation. Calibrates, modifies, and repairs automated/specialized electronic test equipment and systems as well as general purpose test equipment.
Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract)
  • Provide training and advice for repair, calibration, and modification of the wide variety of complex precision measurement equipment utilized by the GOK activities.
  • Provide technical and procedural advice and guidance to KAF personnel and other GOK personnel concerning metrology related matters such as the repair, calibration or modification of precision measurement equipment, the conduct of laboratory operations and the resolution of customer measurement problems.
  • Performs precision measurements, calibrations, modifications, maintenance and repair actions, and other functions as necessary in all areas of laboratory operations.
  • Calibrates, modifies, and repairs automated/specialized electronic test equipment and systems as well as general purpose test equipment.
  • Provide in-depth technical expertise in one or more of the following disciplinary categories and can provide OJT or formal classroom training as required.
  • Assist in obtaining and maintaining, laboratory QA accreditation.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Background working with technical and procedural advice and guidance concerning metrology related matters such as the repair, calibration or modification of precision measurement equipment.
  • Can provide OJT or formal classroom training as required.
  • Knowledge of the basic concepts of electronics and science shall include basic electricity, electronics, circuit theory, digital logic, algebra, and physics.
  • Be able to establish and maintain a Secret Clearance.

Job Requirements

  • An Associate degree in electronics technology from an accredited school and have ten (10) years of work experience operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating electronic precision measurement equipment and calibration laboratory reference standards with a working knowledge of the basic concepts of electronics and science. This knowledge shall include basic electricity, electronics, circuit theory, digital logic, algebra, and physics. OR
  • Completion of a U.S. military precision measurement and calibration program, a precision measurement and calibration school at an accredited school, or within a specialized calibration firm AND
  • Twelve (12) years’ experience operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating electronic Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • Some work outside with temperatures reaching 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • 80/20 Office & Outside Environments.
  • Lift Pull of 20lbs, frequent lifting and stooping and standing as needed.
