Job Summary
The Data Analytics and Visualization Specialist assists with identifying and mining data, performing statistical analyses, applying data visualization techniques, and helping build high quality visualization systems. This position is responsible for analyzing data and customer requirements to produce actionable performance indicators and automated reports thereby improving strategic and operational performance. This position will build relationships and partner with operations, marketing, IT and leadership teams to align operational performance goals, direction and performance with company revenue and growth objectives as a critical focus. The specialist will leverage knowledge of SQL, modeling, data analysis and AI initiatives to research trends, address concerns, gain insights and develop recommendations for implementation.  The specialist will develop the analytics strategy and champion that strategy across the business, in order to create buy in for data-driven decision making.  The specialist will lead the training of company personnel in the use of new statistical simulation tools, applicable programming languages, and data visualization tools once developed.
Principal Accountabilities
  • In collaboration with leadership, define and execute overall data management and analytics strategy including data: governance, security, collection, transformation, modeling, quality and knowledge management processes
  • Develop and maintain consultative and collaborative relationships with key business stakeholders
  • Proactively identifying and addressing data reporting and analytics needs, as well as potential initiatives that align to and support DI’s strategy.
  • Review existing data and operational systems in relation to future needs and benefits, and recommend improvements to meet DI's informational and decision support needs, develop/implement the solution and train users
  • Provide support for prioritization, project oversight and mentorship on large scale data-related or data-intensive initiatives and measure and monitor benefits realization of those initiatives.
  • Coordinate with IT and operational counterparts to lead data driven projects involving timelines, vendor relationships, and budgets to ensure projects are delivered with the highest quality and within specified timeframes.
  • Develop and design presentations, reports, and other deliverables and summarize findings to key stakeholders and executive leadership, communicating with both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Develop baseline technology standards, tools platforms and processes in support of the overall data strategy.
  • Champion the “target state” architecture and drive toward its realization.
  • Evaluate data visualization and analytics requirements for existing programs and new business solicitations, and propose effective and efficient methods of answering those requirements.
  • Perform coding/programming and develop, maintain, and document advanced analytic models and processes.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Ability to analyze data using Excel for reporting and data mining purposes.
  • Strong ability to analyze data using SQL, Excel, SAS, Cognos or other similar tools for reporting and data mining purposes.
  • Advanced experience with the most current data visualization concepts and tools.
  • Experience in SQL or other programming languages.
  • Development experience in cloud based analytics and any scripting language (PHP, Python, Perl, etc.)
  • Experience performing product-oriented quantitative analysis, including statistical analysis

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Information Technology, Data Science, Data Analytics & Visualization, or Business Analytics.
  • Six (6) years of recent related experience or four (4) years of recent related experience with an advanced degree.
  • Demonstrated history of data analytics/visualization for aircraft/vehicle fleet maintenance applications, preferred.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • Works in a normal office environment with controlled temperature and lighting conditions.
  • Must be able to work extended hours, often with short notice, to meet deadlines. Extended hours may include late nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays
  • Demonstrate ability to work efficiently under conditions of multiple deadlines and changing priorities to produce a large volume of high-quality material with attention to detail
